Central Solutions has received funding under the EPA 2014-2020 Research Programme to develop a comprehensive Roadmap to support the adoption of Water Stewardship standards across industry and agriculture in Ireland and thereby help to establish Ireland as a leader in this critically important domain internationally.

The current project builds on the work of a previous EPA-funded study: “European Water Stewardship Standards. An Investigation into the Opportunities for Ireland”.

As part of the consultation process, Central Solutions recently held a joint meeting of the EPA Large Water Users Community of Practice (CoP) and Origin Green members on the 8th of June in Dublin. The meeting was attended by delegates from over 20 companies across a wide range of industries including ICT, Food and Beverage, Pharma and Transport.

The consultation element of the meeting focused on three areas of discussion regarding how Businesses, Government Agencies and Irish Water can respectively encourage the adoption of better Water Stewardship Practices. The interactive discussions allowed delegates to share their own knowledge and experiences, facilitating crucial peer to peer dialogue and learning, which will ultimately encourage continuous improvement of water management across Large Water Users in Ireland.

The list of attendees included: Bord Bia, Bord Iascaigh Mhara, Environmental Protection Agency, Irish Water, KishFish, Irish Country Meats, Abbott, Dairygold, Rosderra, Intel, Country Crest, GlaxoSmithKline, Great Northern Distillery, Manor Farm, Guerbet, Bulmers, Dublin Airport Authority and Glanbia.
