Central Solutions, in partnership withSkillnet Ireland, has launched the Climate Ready Academya national upskilling initiative that aims to support Irish businesses in developing the skills and talent required to respond to climate change. The Climate Ready Academy forms part of the overall “Climate Ready” programme, a five-year national climate upskilling initiative developed in partnership with industry. Speaking on the launch, the Minister for Further and Higher Education, Research, Innovation and Science, Simon Harris TD said:

“Irish businesses have seen significant upheaval over the past year due to Covid-19 and Brexit. Climate change is a reality for businesses too and it is essential we help businesses prepare for this radical change.

“Businesses will need new skills to respond to these challenges. Skillnet Ireland’s Climate Ready programme supports our climate goals by providing every Irish business with the opportunity to build the skills they need to prepare for this challenge and capitalise on the many opportunities the green economy will offer. We will start with over 1,000 businesses and seek to expand this further over the next five years.”

Following extensive engagement with National Stakeholders and industry, Central Solutions and Skillnet Ireland have developed a suite of training programmes offered through the Climate Ready Academy in the fields of Climate Action, Sustainability and Corporate Social Responsibility.

A featured programme of the Climate Ready Academy is the online Sustainability Pass course which has been designed to support all staff of all disciplines and skill levels to develop sustainability awareness, knowledge and best practices. Many of Ireland’s leading companies including AIB Merchant Services, Nestle Wyeth Nutrition, Lufthansa Technik, Mr, Binman, Carbery Group and many more have demonstrated their commitment to Sustainability by partaking in the training. Speaking on the launch, CEO of Central Solutions, Ken Stockil said:

Our ongoing collaboration will drive the continued development of the Climate Ready Sustainability Pass to meet business needs and ensure it is widely adopted within industry in the years ahead”.

The Climate Ready Academy is open to owner-managers and leadership teams in private sector businesses across all industries in Ireland. It is fully funded this year and so all training and supports are free to participants. Today, Paul Healy, Skillnet Ireland Chief Executive, said:
