Central Solutions, a mission-led SME headquartered in Limerick, has been shortlisted in the SME category at the Chambers Ireland Sustainable Business Impact Awards 2021.
The prestigious Chambers Ireland Sustainable Business Impact Awards celebrate sustainable businesses practices across Ireland. Central Solutions has been shortlisted for the SME category, recognising best practises in sustainable development and social responsibility in Ireland.
The Sustainable Business Impact Award nomination recognises Central Solutions’ continuous efforts in relation to water stewardship, encouraging business in Ireland and across Europe to “go beyond” basic regulatory water compliance to achieve excellence in terms of water quantity and quality management, reduced environmental impact and collective action. This award also recognises the innovation behind Central Solutions turn-key water stewardship programmes that have established both Central Solutions and Ireland as leaders in the adoption of water stewardship best practice.
Ken Stockil, Central Solution’s CEO said: “We at Central Solutions are very proud to receive further recognition for our turn-key corporate water stewardship innovations and programmes. Through our collaboration with key partners, we have established Water Stewardship in Ireland as a real success story both nationally and internationally.”
Central Solutions has delivered significant and tangible impacts on industry, broader society and the environment, working in collaboration with a range of key partners such as Irish Water, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), Bord Iascaigh Mhara (BIM), Enterprise Ireland, Bord Bia etc. To-date with over 350 water stewards fully trained, a new national annual certification system in place, over one thousand individual water improvement projects underway and an average of up to 20% reduction in the water footprint of participating sites, the programme goes from strength to strength.
The Sustainable Business Impact Awards also have a focus on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. Central Solutions’ proactive business response to water stewardship is contributing to the dedicated goal on water and sanitation (SDG 6) that sets out to “ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all” (UN, 2018). This has been built on Central Solutions R&D work in this area with the team being at the forefront of cutting-edge R&D, leading large scale research initiatives with national and international partners, developing frameworks for Environmental SDGs, Industrial Water 4.0 and Going Beyond Compliance.
