Lean Yellow Belt Work-Based Training

This Lean Yellow Belt training course is a programme with a difference. University Certified and created by industry experts, you will develop the knowledge and skills required to identify, analyse and develop solutions for Lean Six Sigma and Process Improvement Projects.

Programme Details

Qualification: NFQ Level 8 Special Purpose Award

Delivery: Blended Learning – Online and (Optional) Classroom Days

Project Work: A3 workplace project of your choice

Duration: 6 weeks of self-paced learning (approximately)

The Lean Yellow Belt is certified by the University of Limerick, NFQ Level 8. In line with certification requirements, this programme combines an introduction to Lean Six Sigma concepts with a guided application of the tools & techniques of Lean using the standard A3 methodology and other Lean tools.

Dr. Sean Moore

Central to the development of our Lean programmes is Dr Sean Moore. Sean is a Senior Lecturer in Lean & Six Sigma Systems, Design & Manufacturing Technology at the University of Limerick. With over 15 years’ experience, Sean has implemented both Lean and Six Sigma initiatives in a number of industries and recently held senior roles in Abbott Vascular (Shingo Prize Winner 2014) and Lufthansa Technik.

This introductory Yellow Belt programme is comprised of 8 online modules, including:

Module 1

Programme Resources

This is a central resource location; providing references to the tools and resources needed to prepare for the assignment

Module 2

Lean Business Process

In this module, you will gain an insight of the Key Concepts of Lean Six Sigma, including an overview of the DMIAC process

Module 3

Define Phase

Here, you will gain a deeper knowledge of the Lean Sigma tools and methodologies that are support each of the Define Phase

Module 4

Measure Phase

In this module, you will gain a deeper understanding of the Measure Phase including Collecting Data, Measuring Data and Verifying Data.

Module 5

Analyse Phase

In this module, you will gain a deeper understanding of the theories and tools of the Analyse Phase by applying 3 analytical tools to your project of choice

Module 6

Improve & Control Phase

Here, you will gain an understanding of the Improve and Control Phase to propose improvements and control measures in your A3 report

Module 7

Creating A3-Reports

In this module, you will be guided on how to compile all the learning activities you have completed and create your own A3 report for your selected project

Module 8

Assignment

At the end of the programme, you will submit the final version of your A3 Project Report (based on a live workplace project of your choice)
